Wow, this was a wild weekend.  John W. Schlitt, lead singer of the Christian rock band Petra, shared my coloring song bracelet on his Facebook page.  It was also shared on Petra's Facebook page.  Talk about an honor.  The bracelet is called The Coloring Song bracelet, and is inspired by The Coloring Song, The Coloring Song was one of the most popular Christian songs in 1982, after it was released on the album Never Say Die (1981).  The song uses 4 colors, red, blue, gold, and brown, and my bracelet incorporates
those colors in a chainmaille design.  When I shared it with John, I didn't expect him to be interested in sharing the  link to my webpage!

To really understand what this honor means to me, you have to understand my history with the band Petra.  I started listening to them before I became a Christian - in fact, their music and testimony helped me come to my faith, back in 1990.  As a new Christian, I got to attend a Petra concert in Germany, sitting on the stage talking with John, the lead singer, while Bob Hartman gave his testimony.  A few years later, when my depression got out of control and I was considering a drastic act, Petra released a new album, No Doubt (1995).  The title tracck led me to seek help for my depression.  Two years later, I met my future husband, another Pethead, while volunteering for a Christian rock radio station.  In 1998, we played The Coloring Song at our wedding.
This year my husband and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary - this Wednesday in fact (the 12th).  We had Petra concert tickets for last Friday night, and had recently learned that Petra was going to be in Detroit Lakes on Saturday night.  I also learned I could have a vendor booth at the event, and promptly signed up!   We went to the Friday concert, got home, packed up the car, and got a few hours sleep - we had to leave by 6 am to get to Detroit Lakes on time - it's a 4 hour drive!  Then a day of selling, visiting other vendors, walking the dog (yes, our spokespuppy went with us!), and the next thing I knew, it was time to see Petra again.  All this just days before our anniversary!
So you see, my husband and I have a long history of being Petra fans.  Seeing them 2x in one weekend was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary of 15 years together.  Having John and Petra share my bracelet, well.... that was just icing on the cake.

Not necessarily new, but different.  We have a new spokesdoggie, Casper.  Cocoa left us at the ripe old age of 15 years and about 5 weeks.   Casper came home to us a few days later.  He's a rat terrier, and an outstanding example of his breed.  He has already assisted in the elimination of a mouse, prompted a massive reorganizing of my workspace, and generally given us a run for our money.  He is a handful, but we love hi.  As life stabilizes (does it ever really?), I'll be online more, so look forward to new pictures, new product, and a list of events we'll be selling at.  Hopefully, spring will come soon (although the calendar says it has, we still have 6 inches of fresh snow, and it's still coming down), and with it new opportunities.  Until then, keep checking in.  Oh, you can now follow us on Facebook - just click the FB icon on the main page, and it will take your right to our page!

A new year, a new purpose...  Life has been busy.  The usual holiday mayhem.  I've started teaching jewelry-making classes at the Michaels in Maple Grove, MN.  While that is off to a slow start, it is promising.  I also am gearing up for the summer, and craft fairs, farmer's markets.  Thankfully, the weather has been unusually cooperative here in MN.  We'll see how long that lasts.  There will be more photos, as well as a checkout cart, going onto the site soon, and please feel free to message me if you have any questions or wish to place an order.  Thanks for checking out my work!

Wow, my own website.  I'm Cocoa.  Well, actually I'm Michelle - Cocoa is my dog.  Although, he's the one really in charge of the household.  Cocoa is a toy poodle, about 8 pounds, and is almost 14 years old.  While as a puppy he was chocolate-colored, like chocolate, he's showing his age and graying a little around the edges.
I also have a cat, whose name is Thunder.  He's a big orange tabby; the vet thinks he's a Maine Coon.  We adopted him when he was about 2 - he was at our local  Humane Society after his family abandoned him.  He's about 10 now, and he gets along well with Cocoa.  Thunder likes to help when I'm making jewelry.
All the jewelry on my site is made by me, by hand, with hand-held tools.  While I most enjoy working with semi-precious gemstone beads, I'm learning to combine elements of chain-mail and wire-working with my designs.  I'm quite proud of my work, and love to show it off.
Over the next few weeks, I will be adding pictures of my work to this site, as well as offering pieces for sale.  In addition, I am able to do custom work upon request.  I hope you enjoy my work as much as I do.
