Wow, this was a wild weekend.  John W. Schlitt, lead singer of the Christian rock band Petra, shared my coloring song bracelet on his Facebook page.  It was also shared on Petra's Facebook page.  Talk about an honor.  The bracelet is called The Coloring Song bracelet, and is inspired by The Coloring Song, The Coloring Song was one of the most popular Christian songs in 1982, after it was released on the album Never Say Die (1981).  The song uses 4 colors, red, blue, gold, and brown, and my bracelet incorporates
those colors in a chainmaille design.  When I shared it with John, I didn't expect him to be interested in sharing the  link to my webpage!

To really understand what this honor means to me, you have to understand my history with the band Petra.  I started listening to them before I became a Christian - in fact, their music and testimony helped me come to my faith, back in 1990.  As a new Christian, I got to attend a Petra concert in Germany, sitting on the stage talking with John, the lead singer, while Bob Hartman gave his testimony.  A few years later, when my depression got out of control and I was considering a drastic act, Petra released a new album, No Doubt (1995).  The title tracck led me to seek help for my depression.  Two years later, I met my future husband, another Pethead, while volunteering for a Christian rock radio station.  In 1998, we played The Coloring Song at our wedding.
This year my husband and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary - this Wednesday in fact (the 12th).  We had Petra concert tickets for last Friday night, and had recently learned that Petra was going to be in Detroit Lakes on Saturday night.  I also learned I could have a vendor booth at the event, and promptly signed up!   We went to the Friday concert, got home, packed up the car, and got a few hours sleep - we had to leave by 6 am to get to Detroit Lakes on time - it's a 4 hour drive!  Then a day of selling, visiting other vendors, walking the dog (yes, our spokespuppy went with us!), and the next thing I knew, it was time to see Petra again.  All this just days before our anniversary!
So you see, my husband and I have a long history of being Petra fans.  Seeing them 2x in one weekend was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary of 15 years together.  Having John and Petra share my bracelet, well.... that was just icing on the cake.
